With the iPhone 6s, Apple announced something new for that model only: Live Photos. To us, they seem like a gimmick, with no real use. Something more like HTC would do. There were many concerns about how much storage they would take up, and now we can confirm how much extra space you’ll need for this. According to Dan Matte, these new live photos will take up 2x as much space as a normal photo. That’s because it records 1.5 seconds of video before and after each picture. And for those who only get a 16 GB iPhone, that space that is taken up will be valuable. Plus, most time when you’re setting up for a shot you won’t really want to view what is shown before. Luckily, all of this can be turned off through the camera app.
